Before sending in your items, it’s helpful to know what we can and can’t accept. The Alloy Market specializes in precious metals, so some materials and items fall outside what we purchase.

Items We Do Not Accept

Please do not include:

  • Raw precious metal materials, including placer gold, silver shot, grains, or similar materials
  • Electronic and computer scrap, including gold fingers and pins
  • Catalytic converters
  • U.S. currency coins, including Morgan silver dollars and other 40%–90% silver coins (Which coins does Alloy buy?)
  • Silver certificates or Goldbacks
  • Novelty coins that are not made from precious metals
  • Larger sterling silver items, such as trays, pitchers, vases, and candlestick holders
  • Gold- or silver-plated, filled, or rolled items
  • Items made from non-precious metals, including brass, tin, copper, and titanium

Items We Accept, But Do Not Assign Value To

Gemstones and diamonds may be included in the jewelry you send us. However, we do not assign a separate value to gemstones or diamonds when calculating your offer.

For example, if you send us a gold ring containing a diamond, we can accept the ring, but your offer will be based on the precious metal content rather than the diamond’s value.

Not sure whether something you have qualifies? Contact our team before sending it in. We’re happy to help you determine whether your items are eligible.

A note about gemstones and diamonds

We do not assign a separate value to gemstones or diamonds, and we do not remove stones from jewelry. If you would like to keep a stone, you’re welcome to have it removed before sending your jewelry to us. Your offer is based on the item’s precious metal content, so removing a stone beforehand will not reduce the value we assign to the precious metal.

If your items meet our eligibility requirements and you’re ready to sell, simply request a kit below to start the process.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Morgan silver dollars do contain 90% silver, but The Alloy Market does not purchase U.S. currency coins, including Morgan dollars. Coins can have collectible or numismatic value beyond their precious metal content, which falls outside of our buying process. A reputable coin dealer may be a better option for these items.

Yes. You can include jewelry containing diamonds or gemstones in your shipment, but we do not assign additional value to the stones. Our offer is based on the precious metal content of the jewelry. We do not remove or return stones, so if you would like to keep a gemstone or diamond, we recommend having it removed before sending the item to us.

Resale-ready items may be eligible for our Double Pay program. Select items are chosen for resale on our marketplace and receive a bonus when they sell. For this reason, some people choose to leave their jewelry intact. However, we can’t guarantee your items will be selected for resale.

Check your jewelry for a hallmark or stamp. Marks such as GP, GEP, HGE, GF, or RGP can indicate that an item is plated, gold-filled, or rolled gold rather than solid gold. Solid gold is commonly marked with a karat such as 10K, 14K, 18K, or 22K. However, stamps aren’t always present or accurate, so if you’re unsure, contact our team, and we can help determine whether your item may be eligible.

If you’re unsure, contact us before sending your items. A photo and a brief description of the item, including any visible markings or hallmarks, can help our team determine whether we accept it. This can save you from sending items that aren’t eligible for an offer.

To get started, simply request a free evaluation kit. We ship your kit directly to you and provide a postage-paid parcel to pack your items. We pay for insurance and tracking, so your items stay safe in transit.

Our team of professionals will evaluate your items upon arrival and send you a detailed, itemized offer. Offers are based solely on the metal content of the piece; we do not account for gemstones. When you accept, we initiate payment on the same business day.
